That’s just an opinion but curling fits in a sport event while e-sports don’t really as much

What do you mean by awkwardness? It can’t be any more awkward than Curling….

I don’t think it’s a step back since they are actually talking to each other now. Also if they decided to add e-sport as an Olympic discipline it would have been hard to setup and the awkwardness wouldn’t have been a good thing for the community :/

For me, games are only good as a distraction (which is not as bad as it sounds like) if they are designed to make money like most big and mobile games nowadays. But some games (especially indie ones) help way more than that dealing with problems, whether it’s illness or life being hard in general. I’ve played a game in a bit more than a year and…

Actually, I’ve seen an article saying that after meeting, the instances of e-sport and Olympics have decided not to include e-sports in the Olympic games because the two are too different and not compatible enough. However, they mentioned that e-sport could be used to “link” Olympic events (they gave the example of an e-sport event linking the…

To add to the comment, I’m still in high school (exams in a year) but I wanna work in game design not only because I like the designing process that involves both creativity and logic, but also because even if I have friends that I deeply love (as friends ofc) and I have had very good experiences, big and small, IRL, I’ve never felt as good as…

I think the problem is not games but all the rest, 80% of it is deceiving at best and depressing at worst… Why would you be more motivated into doing something else if you will struggle for years for a joke of an income and not get any recognition, go in debt for anything because only banks have money nowadays, and find quote on quote…

I couldn’t agree with you more! With the rise of esports and its potential to be the in the Olympics by 2025, we would have to redirect this labeling to even people who play Chess or are pro atheletes. Very well said!

If gaming addiction is considered a disorder, then people who play sports or pour their hearts into any other hobbies full time should be classified the same. I feel like with our technological world, people find solace in the escape of what gaming can offer (myself included) so I feel like the WHO needs to take into consideration the POSITIVE…

This is so heartwarming! I love to hear of how gaming can help with children with special needs! This is what worries me. If we label gaming as a mental disorder, we ruin the opporunity for people to actually benefit from its advantages. Thanks for commenting!

This is why I wonder how come watching TV isn’t a mental disorder? There are people who obess over it, but it’s not classified as an mental condition requiring immediate help. Thanks for the comment!

That is the concept that many are trying to articulate. It isn’t let’s say a mental disorder, but a habitual behavior that releases endorphines to make us feel Happy. This is sometimes called Happiness Hack in product psychology.
